Wellbeing of cats and their humans

Cats Only offers online veterinary consultations for cat owners. One of the founders, an experienced veterinary doctor, observed that a lot of cat health enquiries can be handled online. That takes away considerable expenses and stress related to taking a cat to a physical clinic.

We were trusted with a task to create a video consultation platform. This case study focuses on my contribution: Cats Only brand identity and mobile app design.

Things to solve

  • In order to make it a viable business, the scheduling and joining of consultations have to be fully automated.

  • Veterinary online is a fairly new concept. People might be initially suspicious about getting reliable care.

  • Digital meeting is not the same as live human contact. It is particularly important for someone who is distressed about the health ow their beloved pet.

  • There are a lot of cases when doctor consultations are booked without real need. Access to reliable information could easily solve that.

Cats Only brand identity aims to represent it as both a reliable veterinary clinic and a friendly, caring space. All of it - with a pinch of subtle humour.

Letter "C" in Cats Only curves into a cat-like shape and adds a playful wink to an otherwise simple and robust logo. "C" can also be used as an icon on its own.

Colour pink, not so common in the context of medical services, is another tribute to the warm and witty character of Cats Only. However, it is a rather soft, muted pink. It keeps the calm and does not compromise reliability. The rest of the colour palette consists of mainly monochrome warm greys. They are meant to dominate all interfaces where function and professionalism are what matters most.

Video consultation: effective, with care

  • A custom scheduling solution. Calendar in the app shows available days and time slots. Booking automatically pops up on a doctors calendar.

  • Multiple choice solution to enter medical details during booking. For clearly guided experience and a guarantee that doctor has all essential information beforehand.

  • Ability to choose between available doctors. For reassurance and human touch during the booking.

  • Information on past sessions (with doctor notes) is accessible at all times.

  • Repeated reminders to take a cat to a physical clinic in case of an emergency.

  • A page with articles that address common concerns of cat owners and give professional advice on cat care.

Connecting to our user through love for cats

  • We ask the cat owner to create a thorough profile of their cat. It includes practical details like age and vaccination and warm extras like name and a photo.

  • It is common among our users to keep more than one cat, hence app allows to create multiple cat profiles.

  • We added soothing and, hopefully, smile evoking cat-themed illustrations throughout the interface.

This case study focused solely on app design. Right after, a corresponding desktop interface for veterinary doctors and an administrator dashboard has been built on top of it. A full digital solution for happy, healthy cats and those who love them.
